Founder’s Day 2016 |
Friday 8th July saw the School celebrating Founder’s Day at St Mary’s Church in Bowdon. Guest of Honour was Baroness Susan Williams of Trafford.
The O.A.A. was represented by Colin Bamford, Steve Perrett and Kenneth Lea.
The theme of the service was Tolerance and Diversity, and this was strongly reflected in the addresses given by the Headmaster and Baroness Williams, as well as in the six readings made by boys from year 7 to year 12.
Boys also performed two violin solos and a sinfonietta which were well up to the high standard we’ve come to expect from the pupils of Miss E De Jesus.
The current practise of celebrating the Foundation of the School was revived by Bill Firth when he was Chair of Governors. Tim Gartside took the decision that it should be biennial, thus making each occurrence rather more special.
