Old Alts Newsletters – 38 Copies!

At the recent Annual Reunion Dinner (and if you weren’t there, why not?), I was asked if we could make the Newsletters from previous years, available online.

Well, here they are, and if anyone has copies of the missing ones, please let me know!

A big thank you to Ken Webb for lending me his file of Newsletters, and now also to Peter Monether for scanning his copies!

Happy reading,

Multi Alumni Informal Reunion at the Bulls Head.

You are invited to the informal multi alumni get together at the Bulls Head in Hale Barns Sunday 30th June 12 noon onwards.

Bull

Greetings! I am an active member of the Manchester Grammar School and Durham University alumni associations and, as on Thursday last week when I met a friend from MGS who I had not seen for 36 years and it was delightful, I know how wonderful a get-together can be.

I was brought up in Hale, attended Stamford Park and returned here some ten years ago and am part of the St Peter’s Church community and have overcome blindness from injuries I sustained in a car accident in 1982 when I was 21 which ended my Army career. I will be easy to find at the Bull’s Head as I have a closed left eye, wear glasses, have little hair and a smile on my face with a glass of Old Tom!

I have decided to co-ordinate a mixed alumni, informal get together for those from Durham University, Manchester Grammar, Withington, Manchester High, Alderley Edge, Stockport, Shrewsbury, Altrincham Grammar schools for boys and girls, Loreto in Altrincham and St Ambrose. The format is informal with an open bar, great food, excellent service, a lovely garden and children are welcome if supervised. There is no charge to attend and one pays one’s own way.

I believe that it will be a great opportunity to engage with old friends and make new ones and apart from the laughter we are a hot house of creativity and ideas.

I do hope that you will be able to join me and we can make this a quarterly event if people want it to be so. We have no reserved area or seats and the informality is key as is the enthusiasm that we all share.

There will be no raffle or fundraising, just fun networking and I do hope that you can join us.
