Old Alts Annual Sportsmans Dinner this year is on Thursday 26th November at The Cresta Court Hotel. Tickets are priced at £33.00 each. The guest speaker is Graham Heathcote who is Altrincham FCs longest serving post-war manager. Graham Heathcote had a distinguished career at Altrincham as a player, administrator, coach and manager. He started with the Altrincham as a youth team player and went on to play 528 games and score 147 goals for the senior side in a career that stretched from 1971/72 to 1984/85. Graham was part of the famous Altrincham giant-killing FA Cup side which was a national force in non-league football in 1970s and 1980s. He then continued to serve the club in several capacities including club secretary and team coach until he became manager in 2002. When he finished in 2010 he had become Altrinchams longest serving post-war manager.
Grahams insight into life in the Football Conference, where most teams are full time professionals, will be a not to be missed experience. All the more so because he will be supported by one of the North Wests top comedians, Mick Miller, who was a regular in ITVs the Comedians. Mick, the bald comedian with the long hair, was a hit when he appeared in the 2011 Royal Variety Performance. Nowadays, he is equally at home entertaining on board cruise ships, performing at Corporate Functions, Theatres, Old Trafford FC and the new style Comedy Clubs.
As usual the evening will be compèred by local favourite, Fred Eyre, ex-professional footballer, business man, broadcaster, author and after dinner speaker. So please make a note of the date and make sure that you don’t miss out on what promises to be a wonderful evening.
